Occupational Therapists have provided services to workplaces, insurance, workers compensation, Veterans Affairs, legal, Health Authorities, equipment suppliers and families throughout New Brunswick since 1999. Marla Scichilone
Marla Scichilone is Co-owner of Functional Advances Inc., which was established in 1999. She graduated on the Dean’s List from Dalhousie University in 1999 with a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy and a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology in 1994. With over 18 years’ experience, Marla has had clinical experience in both hospital and private practice settings. She is Roy Matheson & Associates certified in both Office Ergonomics and FCE. She is also trained and certified in AMPs, PGAP and is ASIST trained. Marla is a member of the New Brunswick Association of Occupational Therapists and the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists and is registered to practice in New Brunswick.
Danielle Boyle
Danielle Boyle is an Occupational Therapist who graduated from Dalhousie University in 2009 with a Master of Science degree in Occupational Therapy, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology in 2007. Danielle began her career working in a private rehabilitation clinic prior to joining Functional Advances in 2010. Danielle is a Progressive Goal Attainment Program (PGAP) trained clinician. She has extensive experience in ergonomics, return to work programs, job site analysis, and in-home functional assessments.
Danielle is a member of the New Brunswick Association of Occupational Therapists (NBAOT) and the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists (CAOT) and is registered to practice in New Brunswick.
Janelle Sears
Janelle Sears is an Occupational Therapist who graduated from Dalhousie University in 2014 with Master of Science in Occupational Therapy and from Memorial University of Newfoundland in 2012 with a Bachelor of Kinesiology. She began her career in Clarenville, NL, and gaining clinical experience in inpatient, outpatient, long-term care and community settings. She is a member of the New Brunswick Association of Occupational Therapists and the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists and is registered to practice in New Brunswick. She joined the Functional Advances team in 2015, and performs occupational therapy assessments in English and French in the Saint John and surrounding areas.
Marie-Belle McKinnon
Marie-Belle McKinnon is an occupational therapist who graduated in 2005 from Dalhousie University with a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy. She went on to complete a master’s degree and graduated in 2012 from UBC with a Master of Science in Rehabilitation Sciences. Marie-Belle has worked in several settings as a clinician in both public and private practice. She has spent the 8 several years in a teaching position with the OTA/PTA program of Université Sainte-Anne in Nova-Scotia. She is a member of the New Brunswick Association of Occupational Therapists and the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists and is registered to practice in New Brunswick.
Mikayla Donovan
Mikayla Donovan is an Occupational Therapist who graduated from Dalhousie University in 2019 with a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy, and a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology, with minor in Ergonomics, in 2017. She is a member of the New Brunswick Association of Occupational Therapists (NBAOT) and the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists (CAOT) and is registered to practice in New Brunswick. She joined the Functional Advances team in 2019.
